The Turf Teacher

Eric Jones

Professor · Department Chair · Licensed Contractor · Veteran · Business Owner

Eric connects the classroom, the jobsite, the family businesses, and the microphone through a lifelong Green Industry career.

Eric grew up inside the landscape company his parents founded and the Jones family land that later became Jones Strawberry Farm. He began working with Elite Landscape Contractors while still in high school, building hands-on experience across horticulture, landscape construction, irrigation, design, crews, customers, and business operations.

He earned an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture and became a Professor of Horticulture and department chair at the same community college where his father earned a horticulture degree in 1968. His teaching stays connected to the realities professionals face in the field.

Eric also served a combined 17 years in the United States Navy and Army. Today he moves between higher education, Jones Strawberry Farm, Turf Teacher University, and Turf Talk while carrying forward nearly five decades of experience from Elite Landscape Contractors.

The Turfette

Jennifer Jones

President · Business Leader · Horticulture Professional · Educator · Media Host

Jennifer connects agricultural roots, executive business experience, horticulture, and a talent for drawing out the people behind the work.

Jennifer grew up on her family’s 260-plus-acre dairy farm, where land, animals, equipment, and shared responsibility shaped everyday life. That upbringing gave her direct agricultural experience and a lasting respect for family enterprise.

Her professional career expanded into leadership roles across insurance and health and beauty. During her insurance career, Jennifer earned the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation, combining her agricultural roots with specialized knowledge of farm and agribusiness risk and insurance. She managed multi-million-dollar accounts and developed deep experience in operations, strategic planning, customer service, relationship management, and reliable execution.

Today, Jennifer brings that business discipline and agricultural perspective into Turf Teacher University and Turf Talk while continuing hands-on study in horticulture & agriculture.
